Emmanuel Mission Summer Learning Program
Emmanuel Mission Summer Learning Program is a program that has been in operation in central Winnipeg since 2012, with the goal of assisting South Sudanese and other newcomer youth with the educational and build the gap, and to providing a safe, positive environment to pursue their hopes and dreams. Securing an environment where young South Sudanese Canadian students can familiarize themselves with their culture. A safe place where youth can learn and engage with other South Sudanese children, learn about their heritage, and discover themselves. Since 2012, over 100 children in Central Winnipeg have benefited from the opportunities provided by the program, and many former attendees are now working as youth leaders and mentors. Promoting a healthy and active living style by incorporating daily fitness and recreational activities and field trips while serving nutritious breakfast, lunch and snacks. This program is also open to all races/ethnicities outside of South Sudan as well. With all the skills and values, we provide for South Sudanese children, other minority youth are able to engage and discover as well.

The Kenya Association of Manitoba (KAM) was established to unite Kenyans living in Manitoba, advance their common interests, and to ease the integration of newcomers to Manitoba. The association offers a structured approach to collectively share a communal spirit, bridge cultural understanding, support one another, and preserve the Kenyan cultural heritage from one generation to another. The association is governed by a constitution and its executive is elected yearly to facilitate effective communication, cooperation, and coordination. The community meets every quarter for celebrations and to deliberate on transformative ways to enhance member relations with the government of Manitoba and the federal government of Canada. Currently, the association is running youth sporting activities and is engaged in discussions to seek government funding for capacity-building projects within the community.
