ECCM provides multilingual educational support to parents and students.

As the Coronavirus pandemic continues to get more serious across the world and with the changing of education systems. Schools across the country have partially relied on remote and online learning by creating online classrooms, lessons, and activities. But parental guidance and participation will be necessary and essential in children’s education. They can help their children by providing them with a structure and routine, and being a positive force in their education.

ECCM provides support to Seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Seniors are the most vulnerable people during the COVID 19 as their weakened immune systems put them in high risk, but also the social isolation and loneliness is another challenging factor.

Using the publicly released provincial document Welcoming our Students Back: Restoring Safe Schools“, COVID-19 K-12 School Settings Practice Guidance and Protocols,” as well as each divisional school plan, Immigration Partnership Winnipeg (IPW) in partnership with the Ethnocultural Council of Manitoba (ECCM), Manitoba Association of Newcomer Serving Organizations (MANSO) and the Winnipeg School Division, have gathered key information about the return of students to the classroom this September to share to the ethnocultural communities. Our hope is that by sharing this information in various languages both written and orally, it will help ensure clarity and understanding of the new policies and procedures in place around COVID-19.

ECCM supports and advocates for the acknowledgment of ethnocultural communities’ role in the settlement of immigrants, refugees and visible minorities. More than 13 ethnocultural communities are engaged in youth summer program.Youth summer program provides for the social, spiritual, economic, academic needs of youth in ethnocultural communities.


Resource to Stakeholders and Partners in the community

ECCM connects stakeholders and partners to resources for advocacy purposes. In the past ECCM has facilitated meetings between government and settlement agencies to address issues around refugee claimants.

Anti-Racism Campaign

ECCM is working together with Immigration Parntership Winnipeg and the City of Winnipeg to raise awareness of racism and discrimination in recreation.


Inclusive and Welcoming Policy Campaign

ECCM along with Immigration Partnership Winnipeg have put forward a policy to the City of Winnipeg to create communities where racism and descrimination will be reduced and encourage the building of welcoming and inclusive communities.


Indigenous Connections

ECCM works collaboratively with Immigration Partnership Winnipeg to create connections between Indigenous communities and ethnocultural communities with the intention of raising awareness and appreciation of each other’s culture, and educating about the history of Indigenous communities in Manitoba.

ECCM brings awareness and provide information to ethnocultural communities about voting so that people can exercise their right to vote.
