ECCM Statement Oct 30- 2024

Oct 30- 2024

The Ethnocultural Council of Manitoba (ECCM) has a strict, zero-tolerance stance on sexual abuse and harassment. All members of the Board, employees, and volunteers must follow these policies and maintain the highest levels of behavior while serving our communities.

Recently, we have learned that our Board member Hadji Hesso, has been arrested and accused of sexual assault. ECCM regards allegations of this kind with the utmost seriousness. Considering these accusations and recognizing the significance of upholding public confidence, the Board has decided that it is not suitable for Hadji Hesso to remain in his position. As a result, the Board officially stated that Hadji was terminated as a Board Director on October 30, 2024.

As this issue is currently in the hands of the courts, ECCM will not make any more statements and will honor the legal proceedings. Our dedication and commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all stays unwavering.

ECCM Board of Directors.
